Particularly, fire in buses have been in the spotlight due to catastrophic incidents such as the bus fire in Xiamen, China (2013) and in Hanover, Germany (2008) which resulted in the death of 47 and 20 passengers respectively.
Most of bus fires start in the engine compartment, usually out of sight of the bus driver. Therefore, it is crucial for buses to adopt an efficient fire detection and suppression system to avoid injuries, loss of lives, property damages and to ensure business continuity.
